AI agent workshops built around your own workflows

Learn where AI agents fit, and plan one around a real task from your business, with clear limits and human sign-off.

Updated October 2026

An AI agent workshop is hands-on training in planning AI agents: choosing a real workflow, deciding what the agent can use, and setting limits and human checkpoints. Industrial AI runs it live online for New Zealand teams.

  • A real workflow from your business
  • Clear limits and human sign-off
  • When an agent isn’t the answer
  • No coding needed
Agent anatomy

Agents work towards a goal, with you in charge

  1. Goal

A clear outcome, such as “sort the shared inbox and draft replies”.

  2. Plan

Breaks the goal into steps and decides what to do next.

  3. Act

Uses only the tools and data you allow, such as email and documents.

  4. Check

Checks its own progress and goes back when something’s wrong.

  5. Approve

A person signs off anything important before it goes out.

Chatbot

Answers questions in a chat window, and your staff do the work.

Automation

Follows fixed rules, which suits steps that never change.

AI agent

Works towards a goal and adapts as it goes, within limits you set. Agent vs chatbot.

What you’ll cover

AI agent training grounded in your own work

To build small tools with AI, see the Claude Code workshop.

  1. 01

    How agents work

How an agent works towards a goal, and when it makes sense to use one.

  2. 02

    Start with the work

Begin with a business process, then decide whether an agent fits.

  3. 03

    What it can access

What an agent needs to use, and what it must never touch.

  4. 04

    Limits and sign-off

Approvals, limits and boundaries before it goes near live systems.

  5. 05

    Agents in the background

Agents that run on their own and hand back finished work.

  6. 06

    Common pitfalls

Where agents tend to go wrong, and how to spot it early.

  7. 07

    Measuring value

Working out whether an agent saves time and money.

  8. 08

    Agent or automation

When a simple rule-based automation is the better choice.

Audience

Suited to owners, managers and technical staff

Industrial AI also builds and runs AI agents, including a managed AI agent service. To have one built for you, see AI agents.

  1. 01

    Owners and operations

Multi-step work that repeats, such as admin, follow-ups and reconciling records.

  2. 02

    Managers and team leads

Where agents fit, how people stay in charge and how to measure results.

  3. 03

    Developers and technical staff

Designing agents, connecting tools and data, and monitoring them.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI agent?
Software that plans and carries out multi-step tasks towards a goal, using tools and data and checking its own progress. Examples include agents that sort an inbox, reconcile records, or research and draft a report.
Do we need to be developers to attend?
No. The workshop is built around your own workflows, for operations, admin and management staff. Technical staff can go deeper on the build side.
How is an AI agent different from a chatbot or a rule-based automation?
A chatbot answers questions in a window, and a rule-based automation follows fixed steps. An agent works towards a goal, chooses its tools and adapts across steps. AI agent vs chatbot.
Will we leave with an agent running?
No. The workshop is coaching and planning: you leave with an agent designed around one of your workflows, its limits and what it would take to run. Building it is scoped separately.
What does it cost?
AI agent training runs as one of three live online sessions: Foundations (from NZ$597, about 2 hours), Connected (from NZ$1,697, about half a day) or Team Ready (from NZ$2,997, about a full day). What each session includes.
